The Living Word Baptist Church (TLWBC) was founded in January 2011 after the Lord gave Pastor Jeff Threat a vision to plant a church in the Lawrenceville community. The first service was held on January 30, 2011 at 675 Buford Drive, inside a converted Bible bookstore space.
What began with approximately 25 members quickly grew through strong biblical preaching, door-to-door evangelism, and community outreach events such as Fun Day BBQs.
In 2012, the Lord sent Pastor Jonas Chambliss Sr. to partner in ministry and assist with leadership and daily operations. Both pastors ministered tirelessly, and God continued adding to the church.
In 2013, TLWBC moved to its current home at 3706 Loganville Hwy., a beautiful facility on nearly 7 acres. Today, the mission remains unchanged: to reach people with the gospel and teach believers to keep their eyes on Jesus — and Jesus only.
January 1, 1995 marked the beginning of a new year and a new life for Pastor Jeff, as he accepted Jesus
Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. The Word took root immediately in his life as he began to serve
his church in a variety of capacities from church improvement projects to community outreach.
Pastor Jeff was ordained as a deacon in 1997 at Beaver Ruin Road Baptist Church in Lilburn, GA. The Lord
continued to lead Pastor Jeff down the road of church leadership, and he was ordained as a Minister by
Dr. Al Cox and Reverend Roland Bodley in 2004. From there he continued to progress in his ministry,
delivering his first sermon, “Heaven is Paradise and Hell is Hot,” as the Interim Pastor.
In 2011, the Lord began to move in Jeff, prompting him to plant a new church to reach more people in the
Lawrenceville-area for the glory of God.
Pastor Jeff lives in Lawrenceville, GA with his wife, Rebecca, where they enjoy serving The Living Word
Baptist Church and the surrounding community. They have been blessed with three adult children, their
spouses, and 11 grandchildren.
Pastor Jonas Chambliss, Sr. is a born again, baptized believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. He loves the
Lord wholeheartedly and has continued to follow Him faithfully throughout his life. He is married to
Victoria Yvette Chambliss, and together they have four daughters—Yvette, Sharde’ Arielle, Janay—and one
son, Jonas Jamar Chambliss, Jr.
At age 10, he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized on July 31, 1991 at
Pilgrim Progress Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana. After many years in New Orleans, and
following Hurricane Katrina, he relocated to Georgia with his family.
The Lord led him to Beaver Ruin Road Baptist Church in Lilburn, GA in 2005. As the family continued to
attend, Jonas was invited to join the music ministry as the drummer. God quickly revealed that music was
only part of His plan for Jonas.
His faithfulness was recognized, and he became the full-time Youth Pastor in 2006. In 2007, he sensed
God’s call to preach and teach the gospel and was ordained as a Minister on April 15, 2007.
In the Spring of 2012, the Lord sent Pastor Jonas to The Living Word Baptist Church to preach and to oversee the day-to-day operations of the ministry.
